Fighting Climate Change

Recently, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change – the world’s premier climate change research team, – released a major new report. It said the world can no longer avoid an increase in the devastating climate-related events we’ve seen over the past several years, but that there’s still a fast-closing window for us to drastically curb our carbon emissions in order to prevent outcomes from getting even worse.

Sometimes friends tell me they’re overwhelmed by reports like this – by the sense that it’s just too late to do anything.

But I view this as a call to action!

That’s why I have introduced HB 389, to get us back in the fight against Climate Change.

Clearly, the cleanest, cheapest Kilowatt is the one you don’t use. This new, bipartisan version of the Energy Waste Reduction program I introduced in January, will save Ohioans money, create green energy jobs, and reduce carbon emissions – thereby helping to protect future generations from the dangers of this climate crisis.

HB 389 is strongly endorsed by the Ohio Environmental Council and the Environmental Law and Policy Center. One of the less reported outcomes of the House Bill 6 scandal was the way it gutted Ohio’s green energy economy—which is one of the major reasons I lead the fight against HB 6.

Now- this bipartisan legislation is the first step on Ohio’s road back toward a sustainable energy future.
